Katherine Trebeck

 

Katherine is Research and Policy Officer at Oxfam Scotland, undertaking work focusing on poverty in the UK, particularly Oxfam’s UK Poverty Programme. Her main focus at present is creation of the Humankind Index for Scotland and an analysis of the Scottish economy, including exploration of an alternative configuration of how economy and society work together. Prior to Oxfam Katherine led the Wise Group’s research and policy efforts and managed their Social Auditing process. From 2005 to 2008 Katherine was a Research Fellow at the University of Glasgow where she remains an Honorary Research Fellow. Her work there included analysis of community development, corporate social responsibility and social housing. She has a PhD in Political Science from the Australian National University. Her research focused on mining companies and the need to recognise and respond to Aboriginal community demands. She retains a strong interest in community leverage over companies and has published widely on such matters, including models to assess the impact of companies on communities.
