Peter Kenway

Peter has been director of the New Policy Institute since its foundation in 1996, leading its work aimed at promoting public awareness and understanding of a wide range of subjects connected with poverty and disadvantage. As an economist, his special interests focus on employment, earnings, taxes (including the council tax) and benefits. Exposing the myth that work is the route out of poverty is an abiding preoccupation. He is regularly invited to give evidence to parliamentary select committees at Westminster, the devolved administrations and abroad, Peter recently served as special adviser to a House of Lords Committee in the Barnett Formula. He is a member of the Welsh Assembly Government’s Child Poverty Expert Group.
