Chris Forde
Senior Lecturer in Industrial Relations at Leeds University
Chris’s research interests centre on the changing nature of work, focusing on: contingent forms of work, particularly temporary agency employment; restructuring and redundancy; job quality; the experiences of migrant workers, asylum seekers and refugees; employee participation; and, unions and wage equality. He has published widely across these interests and received research funding from the Department for Trade and Industry/ Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform, ILO, the European Parliament and the Home Office. He has just started a new project looking at the use of different employment contracts in the UK, Australian and Swedish construction sectors. Publications include a joint report for the European Parliament on the European Globalisation Adjustment Fund; 'Investing in a Multicultural Barnsley', which fed into the development of a new integration strategy for refugees and asylum seekers in Barnsley; and research on changing job quality in the UK which was published in the BERR Employment Relations Research Series.
